Do you ever find yourself cocooned in your own home? Letting the hours of the day pass, waiting for your partner to come through that door just so you can go to the toilet in peace.
This has happened me on plenty of occasions and especially when Ivan was only a few months old. Now I try keep myself busy, of course I’m busy, I have two little humans who depend on me all day. In a sense of head space for myself I’ve been trying to find what works best for me.
Parenting doesn’t come with a manual. We can read as many books or blogs to try help us prepare but everyday we are growing and learning just like our babies. That’s why it’s very important to not let yourself go.
We can all agree sometimes it’s a hell of a lot easier to just stay at home and not leave the house but this can sometimes reach a level where we no longer want to go anywhere and are hiding away, especially effects new mothers who find it daunting. Believe me it’s not easy but it will, if you put yourself out there.
We all have our good days and bad but if you are having one of those high stress, rip your hair out, want to scream the house down kind of feels, open the door. Grab that buggy, put your hat on and don’t forget the baby. Going for a walk and getting fresh hair is probably one of the best things you can do and it’s free.
I know you probably hear it all the time. Go for a walk! But honestly just do it and I guarantee you will be feeling a whole lot better.
I try go for a walk at least 5 times a week now even if it’s for 20 minutes. It makes me feel so good, you can literally taste the fresh air. You might not feel it straight away but going for a walk is a great way to exercise. Sometimes we walk to the shop just to get a treat, which makes it all worth while.
