World Breastfeeding Week 2017

World Breastfeeding Week is an annual celebration which runs from the 1st – 7th of August. Events are held worldwide within organisations and participants to promote awareness of Breastfeeding.

The World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) was formed on 14 February, 1991. WABA is a global network of organizations and individuals who believe breastfeeding is the right of all children and mothers and who dedicate themselves to protect, promote and support this right. WABA acts on the Innocenti Declaration and works in close liaison with UNICEF.

The World breastfeeding weeks 25th year in 2017 is about working together for the common good.

#WBW2017 want to forge new partnerships with celebrants, advocates, activists and creative people. We want to attract as much attention as possible to share our stories, thoughts on breastfeeding and make more young women aware of the facts.

You can make a difference in your area by simply posting a photo of you breastfeeding on Instagram, sharing a status on Facebook or telling your story on snap chat. Social media is the easiest way of communicating so why not use this platform to normalize breastfeeding and build confidence around young women and other breastfeeding mothers. Please use #babyboobieblogger in your photos , I would love to see them and do not forget #Worldbreastfeedingweek.

If you are living in Ireland , below are a list of groups and pages set up to encourage breastfeeding and your go to when you need some information. I am sure there will be plenty of meet ups and events in your area, if so let me know and I can mention it on my blog.

I also would like to share a few wonderful mammy bloggers who I follow. There is a great parenting community on social media and I have made some amazing friends. All of the mothers support each other, give advice, confidence and lots of laughs. Below are a list of a few Irish mammy bloggers and insta moms who breastfeed. You seriously need to go check them out, they all have their stories to tell.

I am good at breastfeeding

Breastfeeding isn’t just about milk its also about love. We love our children and this is why so many women don`t give up breastfeeding when it gets tough. There is a sense of accomplishment when reaching a certain stage. The bond you form with your baby is so beautiful and you get a feel for his or he needs through nourishment. It is a growing attachment that will continue to play an important role in your baby’s development in years to come.  Its empowering as a new mother to watch your baby grow and to thrive on your breast milk. All of this said there are so many benefits for mam and baby which you can find on my blog.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this piece and if you enjoyed it please leave a comment and subscribe to my blog for more updates and information.

Love Laura xoxo
